sometimes the forgotten sustainability is durability. thoughtfully designing and creating things that last and that could someday be repaired is my way of being green. this is why i use sterling silver and glass. these materials age so beautifully and there will always be a glassmaker or a silversmith (at least, i hope!) in the future to fix things. i treasure old jewelry from my family, and i really hope the things i make now will be treasured by someone long after i'm gone.
you can read a whole lot about me in an interview i did with ClevelandHandmade.com here.
i like to be busy, and i love starting projects. here are some of the things i'm up to (please feel free to participate or follow along if you'd like) :
projects:
the use-it-project i challenged myself to only use handmade and used products for a year. see how i'm doing on my blog.
the photo lab project is an ongoing collaboration that hopes to remind us of the magic and surprise of real film while connecting Etsy community members. Etsy members are asked to list a film photo diary (an exposed but undeveloped roll of film shot through the course of one day) in their shops to trade or sell or give away. whether sold, traded or given, the film will preserve a day and do a little to revive a loyal form of art.
these items should be tagged ‘photolabproject’ so that they are easy to find on Etsy.com.
let's enjoy film and what we can learn about each other with it before it is extinct. 24 hours in a day, 24 frames on a roll of film. it's meant to be.
